Trevor Hinton
In the early 20th Century a group of avant garde artists, writers and thinkers, gathered in the Bloomsbury area of London to create new types of art. They were a very distinct group that were generally frowned on by most of society as they were perceived to be very liberal and often outrageous.
The most well known of the group were Virginia Wolff, the writer, Vanessa Bell, Roger Fry and Duncan Grant.
The styles that were created by The Bloomsbury set in the Omega workshops are very distinct, with an unusual combination of fine art and design. There are many examples today of furniture (often painted in an unusual, almost primitive style, with a wide range of colours), textiles, porcelain, paintings and other types of materials
Over the years I have had a great interest in this group of artists and have re-created copies of their works for customers and I once decorated a whole shop in this style. I restore any pieces sympathetically and invisibly. In all my restoration my belief and ethos is in conservation and sympathetic work.
